1. Blocking Telemetry on Windows 10 and 11 Home Edition:
- If you're using the Home edition of Windows 10 or 11, you can't entirely disable telemetry. However, you can limit the data collection to the most vital information.
- Press Win + I to open the Settings menu.
- Navigate to Privacy & security > Diagnostics & feedback.
- Toggle off the option for Send optional diagnostic data. This way, Microsoft will only collect essential data related to your hardware and system settings¹.
2. Disabling Telemetry Using Group Policy Editor (Enterprise, Education, or Professional Editions):
- If you're using Windows 10/11 Enterprise, Education, or Professional editions, you can use the Group Policy Editor.
- Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds.
- Double-click Allow Diagnostic Data (or Allow Telemetry on Windows 10).
- Set it to Disabled and click OK¹.
3. Registry Editor Method (Use with Caution):
- You can also use the Windows registry to disable telemetry, but be cautious and back up your registry first.
- Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and click OK.
- Locate Connected User Experiences and Telemetry.
- Double-click it, go to the General tab, and change the Startup type to Disabled¹⁴.
Remember that these methods apply to different Windows editions, so choose the one that aligns with your version.
