data source credendial update error

I am using PostgreSQL database as data source. Many days ago, data rescheduled refresh works normally. Several days ago, I downloaded pbix file in another PC and made some modification, then re-published to workspace. But after then refresh in workspace encountered failure. I updated credential as requested but error alway happened.

So I think maybe I should publish it in the original PC. I retried in the PC on which original pbix file was published. But it seems credential update error remains. I have to delete workspace and recreate once again. Those pbix files are also published once again. But powerBI still thinks credentials are not OK.

Error is:

Failed to update data source credentials: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions'

Hi @Anonymous ,

Reference this post:

Please try the following steps:

1.       Restart the windows firewall service

2.       Reboot the problematic machine

3.       Restart the “TCP/IP stack”.  Run CMD as administrator, type “netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt” to reset TCP/IP.

4.       Try to temporarily disable antivirus.

Hi, Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I tried some step but unfortunately I can't close firewall and antivirus software which can only be handled by network administrator. So till now my problem remains. But I think your solution could have solved my problem becuase it seems credential update is blocked by firewall or antivirus software according to error type. I will manage to contact network administrator to see if I can do something on firewall. Thanks.
