dashboard alert is not sending email

Hi everyone, I've created a dashboard with some KPIS and alerts for them when the value is above the treshold.

It sometimes doesn't work like should be, It does not send emails if you do not enter the panel, if you enter the panel the emails are sent automatically.

Anyone know why happen this? How can I fix it?

Thanks

Hi @danielcalderon4

Alerts only work on refreshed data. They don't work on static data .

If you set up automatic refresh data, and can guarantee the normal operation of automatic refresh. And you can ensure that the alert rule is also set normally, then you should be able to receive emails.

I have exactly the same issue.  The alert triggers, I can see it in the notification centre, I have the box ticked for 'Send me email too' but sometimes it doesn't send the email.  Sometimes it does.  Anyone get a solution to this please?

Currently the data is updated from "forced" refresh or manual intervention, I have already configured a scheduled update, I hope it can be the solution.

Hi @danielcalderon4

When the tracked data reaches one of the thresholds you've set, several things happen. First, Power BI checks to see if it's been more than an hour or more than 24 hours (depending on the option you selected) since the last alert. If the data is past the threshold, you'll get an alert.

Next, Power BI sends an alert to your Notification center and, optionally, an email. Each alert contains a direct link to your data. Select the link to see the relevant tile where you can explore, share, and learn more.

If you've set the alert to send you an email, you'll find something like this in your Inbox.

Power BI adds a message to your Notification center and adds a new alert icon to the applicable tile.

Your Notification center displays the alert details.

You can change the detection time to once an hour, then change your data so that it reaches the alert value, and then see if you can receive the email notification normally .

Hello, thank you very much for your answer. All processes occur as described, except the sending of the mail, sometimes it is not sent to the inbox only when the user enters the panel. It seems if PowerBi detects them as inactive and does not send the mail. As soon as the user enters the panel, the emails arrive.

Hi @danielcalderon4 ,

The design of the system is that an alert is sent when the data is refreshed and the threshold to send the alert is reached.  Are the KPI's in question on a report that is being refreshed based on schedule refresh or based on manual intervention?

Hi!, the dataset is being refreshed 1 time per day

The process is done everyday from the option "refresh", Should be based on schedule refresh?

Regards!

Hi @danielcalderon4 ,

Yes, that refresh will send the alert IF the value goes over the threshold AND you have the selection to "At most once an hour" then you will get an email (if you didn't get one in the last hour).

I have the alert configured at most 1 time every 24 hours, I already made a scheduled update, I would expect it to work like this. Should I do something else?

Hey @danielcalderon4 ,

Yes, that should work, let us know if it does.
