app issue

Hi everyone,

I’m seeing a strange and inconsistent issue with one of our Power BI Apps and would appreciate any guidance

We have an app that's not appearing under My apps.

Seems linked to guest users
  • This issue appears to affect users with guest access (external users in our tenant).
  • Admins and internal users with standard Power BI accounts can see the app normally.
  • Only guest users seem to experience the disappearing/hidden app behavior.

What I’ve tried so far

  • Confirmed user security group membership.
  • Cleared cache, logged out/in, tried Incognito, and tried different browsers.
  • Had the app updated/republished
  • Issue still persists.

Is this a confirmed or newly emerging bug in the Power BI Service? Is there a known workaround (other than recreating the app)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
DT

Hi,

The issue resolved itself without any intervention, which reinforces my belief that this was a bug or a side effect of background changes made by Microsoft 🤷‍

Thanks

Hello @DimT,
Guest users won’t see a Power BI app in My apps automatically because apps aren’t shown for external accounts by default. To fix it, share a direct link with tenant context (https://app.powerbi.com/groups/me/apps/<app-id>?ctid=<tenant-id>), make sure they’ve accepted the Azure AD invite, switched to your tenant if needed, and are included in the correct security group. They can also check the “From external orgs” section. This is expected behavior, not a bug, so recreating the app isn’t necessary.

Hi,

Thanks for the message. We have 10s of apps and they all work fine except that one which as I say dissapears randomly...must be a Microsoft service bug this

If you have a Pro license you can open a Pro ticket at https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/newsupportticket/powerbi
Otherwise you can raise an issue at https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues .

Thanks for the message. Yes apps are pushed automatically to end users

Do you know if the tenant settings are set to enable or disable automatic app install? If permitted on tenant, is it also enabled on the workspace?
