added new columns in datasource

Hi

I'm using PBI.com with SparkSQL + Direct Query. I added new columns in datasource. But the column does not appear on PBI.com.

I tried it on PBI desktop and , the added columns was appeared on PBI desktop.

What should I do? Is it support on PBI.com?

@moris

When you add the new columns in the desktop version, republish the dataset. It should pick up new columns at that time. If you are just refreshing the dataset, it might take a few times to see the changes.

@kcantor Thank you for your reply.

PBI.com cannot seem to refresh data souce when column added.

The combination of Spark and Direct Query can use with PBI Desktop, but it can not be published to PBI.com. Because the credentials can not be updated.

Therefore, I have to use PBI.com. But PBI.com can not update the data source.

Hi @moris,

Do you connect to Spark on Azure HDInsight from Power BI Service? If that is the case, as stated in this article, schema changes are not picked up automatically. After adding new columns, what is the result after you click ”Refresh Now” option in your dataset?

In addition, do you use same authentication method in Power BI Desktop and Power bi Service when connecting to Spark on Azure HDInsight?

Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
