Visuals appear fine in Desktop, but get error "can't display the visual" in published report

Data source is DirectQuery to Dataverse. There's no RLS or any special permission configuration set up. Only 2 tables are used, and there's a required 1:N relationship.

In Desktop the visuals show without an issue:

In the published report, it was working fine as well until a few days ago. Now it looks like this, even though no changes have been made to it:

Error details say:

Expression.Error: We couldn't fold the expression to the data source. Please try a simpler expression.. ;We couldn't fold the expression to the data source. Please try a simpler expression.. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface.

However, these visuals are extremely simple:

The same thing happened to another dashboard that was published at the beginning of 2023 and hasn't had any changes to it since. Did an update to PBI break something?

Hi @BJHF ,

Could it be an issue with the data source credentials? Perhaps you can check whether the credentials for the data source used by the report are correct. If the data source credentials are invalid, you will not be able to connect to the data source to get data.

If there is no problem with your data source credentials, maybe someone have changed the data source recently? Please check if any users have recently changed the content of the data source and destroyed the original structure of the Dataverse used by the report? This can also happen if the data source structure is corrupted or changed.

Best Regards,

Dino Tao
