Hello,
I'm in need of some advice on how to proceed with a project... I've been asked to create and update the measures within 2 existing reports. These reports were not created by me, and the person who created these reports has left the company. However, I have been granted Contributor access to the workspace and I am able to download the .pbix files, but I am unable to edit the measures in these reports. How can I edit/create measures for this report and then publish it to the workspace to update?
These 2 reports use the same Power BI dataset, however I am only able to edit queries for 1 of the reports (this option is greyed out for the other).
FYI, there are several tables that are from an Azure Hive database and I do not have access to these tables.

Hi @Anonymous
You defenitly need to get Admin access permission to the workspace and the dataset. Ask your Azure adminstrator to allow you that.

Hi @aj1973 , thanks for your reply. What would Admin access permission to the workspace allow me to do differently with regards to editing the measures within the existing report? Referring to this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-new-workspaces
Hi @Anonymous
Once you have full access to the workspace you will also have full access to the dataset. Download the dataset to your desktop and edit your measures. Publish the report back to the workspace.

Thanks @aj1973 . I have Admin rights and downloaded the dataset. Some measures I'm able to view and edit, while others I cannot. Do you know why I cannot see some?
Will having access to the dataset resolve this? I believe the report is using DirectQuery to an Azure Hive database.
Yes sir, direct query mode connection has its limitations
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-use-directquery
That's why Import mode is some how better and before starting building reports we always have to evaluate the cons and pros of either mode of connection.
Glad you made the first step.
