Hi guys!
So I've got an On-premise Sharepoint which stores some xlsx files. These files are the upstream of my Power BI report. I understand I need a gateway (I have an enterprise gateway) to deal with on-premise sources if I want to schedule a refresh, so I configured the gateway on my pc.
The problem is that the sharepoint is stored in some other sever, not my pc, so the only way to access that on-premise sharepoint, is through a VPN. If I try to run or shcedule a refresh on Power BI Service, it fails if my pc is not on the VPN.
So I've got some constraints here, I'm on a financial team, hence I have no access to the server that stores the sharepoint to install a gateway, hence this might not be an option.
Even though connecting my pc to the VPN and running or scheduling a refresh works, it's impossible to have my pc 24/7 on and connected to the VPN.
How can I schedule a refresh so I can extract the data from that on-premise sharepoint without installing a gateway on that server?
Appreciate all replies!! (:

Hi @Anonymous
It's a no chance mission. If yourself can't have access to the server other than through VPN how do you want Power bi to do it!
I can only see one way, Keep your PC on and connected to the VPN 24/7 (:
