Unable connect to the data source

The report works fine on my own desktop, but when I publish it here, I receive the error message. I defined the gateway within the company to the SQL server and received all access, there is no problem connecting there. I still get the above error
I would be glad if you help

Hey @gulsemin ,

the below image visualizes the 3rd step of connecting a Power BI dataset with a data gateway connection, assuming the data source (your SQL Server) requires a data gateway connection:

image.png

Check settings of the dataset, you find the settings of the dataset in the workspace inside Power BI Service
1) The gateway you installed

2) The gateway is available, meaning up and running

3) The data gateway connection is mapped to the dataset. This article explains how to create a gateway connection: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-gateway-data-sources?WT.mc_id=DP-MVP...

If the Power BI file is leveraging data from more than one data source, you need to create more than one data gateway connection or authenticate to web-based data sources (e.g., Excel files hosted in a SharePoint library). The next image shows where you can authenticate to these data sources. This can also be done on the settings site of the dataset:

In the above image, the message states that no action is required as access to this data source is provided by a data gateway connection established via the gateway.

Hopefully, this helps to tackle your challenge.

Regards,

Tom

Hi @gulsemin ,

Here are a few things you could try:

1.Check the data source settings: In Power BI Desktop, select File, Options and Settings, and then Data Source Settings. Find the data source with the cached settings and use the “Clear Permissions” button to reset.

2.Check the server and database name: Make sure the server and database name match what was entered in Power BI Desktop and the data source configured for the gateway.

3.Check your account: Make sure your account is listed in the Users tab of the data source within the gateway configuration.

4.Check all data sources: Make sure all the data sources in your Power BI Desktop file are configured with the gateway.

Try to run as administrator to open Power BI Desktop and re-connect to SQL server.

Best regards.
