Hi, I have this data source error.
there is one column name changed by our data engineer.
i have open the desktop version, refreshed the power query, cleared cache and re publish.
but it seems that the semantic model in the power bi service still have this old column name.
I've seen some other thread about it, seems like by clearing cache they solved their problem.
Or simply delete the report and semantic in service and republish it.
but my semantic in the pwoer bi service has too many RLS users. I'm afraid if i just delete it, i have to set up all RLS all over again.
do you have any idea how can i refresh my semantic model?

Hi @frankiekho
To update the semantic model in Power BI Service without losing RLS:
Update the Dataset: Open your Power BI Desktop file, correct the column mapping in Power Query, refresh, and re-publish the report. Ensure you overwrite the existing dataset in the Service.
Reprocess in Service:
Avoid Deleting: Do not delete the dataset in the Service; overwriting preserves RLS configurations.
This should resolve the column name issue without impacting RLS.

In here i wanted to mention the step 1.
do double refresh, one in the power query, the other is on the report's table view.
i dont know why the refresh in power query will not change anything in the table view. so i need to do the second refresh on the report view. then simply upload (replace) the existing dashboard. and then it worked
Have you republished your semantic model again after the datatype changes ? , Try using upload option from Power bi workspace level

Hi @Poojara_D12 ,
thanks for your reply. I have done with step 1.
but I am stuck at step 2: reprocess in service
is this the manual refresh you mean? if so, then it doesn't work. it didnot synchronize with my Desktop version schema
