Hi
A colleague has shared a folder with me and I want to connect to a .pbix file in a sub-folder but when I select New/File/OneDrive for Business the folder doesn't appear. I had previously selected 'Add shortcut to my OneDrive' when right clicking the shared folder and can see it there in onedrive.com and in my personal folder on my PC. Any ideas how to make this folder accessible through PBI Service?
Thanks
arb

Hi @arb1782 ,
Yes, when you connect to the data source, if you are not using a shortcut on your computer itself then when you publish the pbix file to server then the server will connect to it as well.

Hi @collinq
Thanks but I'm following this blog post on version control, which states explicitly:
"DO NOT publish the reports to Power BI Service from Power BI Desktop. Instead, get the report directly from Power BI Service from your OneDrive for Business. Otherwise you lose the automatic file updates feature in Power BI Service."
Hi @arb1782
Based on test, it seems getting data from a shared folder in OneDrive for Business is not supported through Power BI Service.
As a workaround, you could create a workspace in Power BI Service and specify a Workspace OneDrive to use a Microsoft 365 group file storage location. You could let your colleague upload the .pbix file into this group file storage location and then get data from there.

Hey @arb1782 ,
Ok, you are worried about having multiple versions of the .pbix file. So that is a different than the path we were going. I would suggest that you contact the author of that post to get help with having multiple versions of a pbix file.
Thanks!
