SharePoint Version Control - Checking out files do not pause OneDrive refresh

Hello,

I've recently started to use SharePoint version control for Power BI content and I'm facing some issues when updating the .pbix file.

Context: I used the "Import" functionality in a workspace to connect to a .pbix file stored in SharePoint. It created a semantic model, a report and a dashboard in the workspace. Then, I'm having issues when I make changes to the file in SharePoint, as described below.

First of all, I've noticed that changes to the file in SharePoint are pushed to Power BI Service only if OneDrive refresh is enabled and Sync with OneDrive and Sharepoint is set to Automatic. So far, all good: Every change to the file is pushed to PBI Service in a few minutes after it is uploaded to SharePoint.

However, the SharePoint check-out functionality doesn't work properly as the changes are pushed to PBI Service even when file is checked-out. Is there something that can be done in SharePoint or Power BI Service settings to prevent this behavior? I would like to have the file synced only after it is checked in again.

Your use case is valid but outside the design envelope for that feature. The Power BI service has no idea what Check in/check out means.
