Query works fine in desktop so what is wrong with it?

Hi @masplin ,
Based on the error message, the reason that cause this issue is the Privacy Level setting for this data source when you configure the data source in the gateway page.
Please set the privacy level in power bi service which should be the same as in the desktop in data source settings.

I tried that because tht's what error suggested, but it was actually same as my other error. Badstaging of extenral data queries as solved by Microsoft support on this thread
seems if the model refreshes in desktop but not in service this is the number one thnig to check
Pity error messages areso misleading and unhelpful

@masplin - Very difficult to troubleshoot these kinds of things. @ImkeF and @edhans might be able to tell what is going on but you might have better luck checking the Issues forum here:
