ServerError_PowerBIASProxyModelFeatureDisabled error and publishing does not update report

I have encountered an error in multiple reports since 5:30PM EDT last night.

When publishing over an existing report in a staging workspace, receive the following error:

Then when checking the service, NONE of the changes in the report side (visible/front end) appear as well as there is a "ServerError_PowerBIASProxyModelFeatureDisabled" error on the semantic model, an error which i have never seen before and has 0 results when searching on google. Anyone else experienced this before and has a solution?

of note potentially: both reports have a mix of both imported and directquery tables in the data model

The solution was that on the service side they needed to allow the entire organization vs. a security group for DirectQuery connections in our tenant

Hi @mandysachswc

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Please verify composite model setup. Make sure that the composite model is correctly set up. This includes verifying connections between the imported and DirectQuery table.

Ensure that the account you're using has the necessary permissions to publish reports using the proxy model. Specifically, you need both Viewer and Build permissions on the datasets.

Ensure that you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Sometimes, updates include fixes for known issues.

As indicated in the image you provided, try manually refreshing the dataset in the service or scheduling a refresh. This might help resolve any temporary issues with the data connection.

Best Regards
