Hello,
We recently had a file that was corrupted and we were unable to recover the file. We had to create a new file and when changing the reporting over to the new file, the scheduled refresh option is not working. On Demand refreshes work, but the scheduled refreshes keep failing. It says the credentials are wrong. I have tried changing the credentials in Transform Data > Data Source Settings > Edit Permissions but It is still not working.
Additional Info: The file we are reporting off of is in my companies Sharepoint.
Hi @ryanm90 ,
Do you connect to on-premises SharePoint list or SharePoint online? If you use on-premises SharePoint list, please use Windows authentication in Power BI Desktop, then re-publish PBIX file to Power BI Service and set schedule refresh with gateway.
If this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution to help the other members find it more quickly.
Best Regards,
Dedmon Dai
Hi @ryanm90 ,
You will need to change the credentials from Power BI Services > Dataset Settings and not in your pbix file.
Scheduling automatic refreshed are functioned in Power BI Services and hence you will need to achieve it from there. Also, you need to be the owner of that dataset.

I am trying to change it there and I get this message.
"Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for the Web source are invalid." I am the dataset owner and the credentials are right. I'm not sure how to proceed.

@ryanm90 ,
The error clearly shows that the credentials you have put are invalid. What are the credentials you are putting in desktop to properly refresh in desktop/pbix? Try the same in services.
If you feel that the credentials are absolutely spot on and still services is throwing an error, then you can raise a ticket with MS Support. Link
