Dear community,
I set the row security level exactly following instructions and various Youtube videos. These users can see:
✔️ the Report in the correct role (for example, people from Department X can see Report only in that Department X) BUT
❎ whenever they open power BI desktop or Excel > connect to Power BI dataset > they can see all of the data from everyone from other departments & all columns. What can I do now to prevent that?
They should only see the data of their department even when they connect from Power BI Desktop or Excel!
I set all the steps as follow:
1. On Power BI Desktop > Modeling > Manage roles
2. Publish the report on the web service
3. On the web: Dataset > Security > put emails of corresponding people to these rows
4. Click on the Report > Manage permissions > then put emails of corresponding people
Thank you so much

Hi @quyenduong
Are those people also members in the app workspace?
If they are remove them from all App workspace roles and try again?
Hi @GilbertQ ,
I checked and these people I share the Report with are NOT members of the workspace :(( I still do not understand where did it go wrong.
