Report Level Security / Object Level Security - Power BI Service

Hi All,

I have the following requirement:

  • 1 Workspace "Global"
  • 3 AD Groups Asia,Europe and Restricted
  • 2 Datasets :

Dataset AE+ related reports to be accessed by Asia and Europe (not by Restricted)

Dataset R + related reports to be accessed by Restricted only (not visible to Asia/Europe group.

How can I implement the security so the dataset R and related reports are only accessible/visible to Restricted Group only in the same workspace? Is it possible or it has to be a stored in a separate workspace ?

@LD2022 Share each report with the respective AD Groups.

Hi @Greg_Deckler

Thanks for your reply. But when they access it using APPS or workspace, all the reports and dataset will be visible to them.

Dataset AE+ related reports should be visibible to  Asia and Europe only

Dataset R + related reports should be visibible to Restricted only

@LD2022 No. Don't make them members of the workspace, just share the actual report. If you give them a role in the workspace, then they can see everything (although Viewer still enforces RLS). If you just share a single report in a workspace with a group of users, all they can see is that report. They cannot see the other reports. This assumes actual separate reports or are you using the word report when you should be using the word "page" of a report.

Hi @Greg_Deckler

They are individual report not page.

When you say share the report with the groups, do I also need to restrict the report in Maneg Permissions?

Can you please share a screenshot of how to share with one AD groupand not the others ?
