Regarding Direct query

Hi,

I want to know whether the direct query gives the current data in visuals with out any refreshing. Our data will updated in database for every minute. Is it possible to use direct query for this requirement? As we want to see the live data in our visuals without manual refresh or schedule refresh in powerbi service.

Thanks & Regards,
Anil.

@AnilKumar ,

DirectQuery can't achieve the above requirement as you describe. It requires schedule refresh or manual refresh in Power BI Service.

You can consider to push data from your database to Power BI streaming dataset, and create a streaming dashboard, which will display live data in visuals without manual/schedule refresh.

There are some blogs for your reference.

Hi,

I have another question to get clarify .  My data is stored in SQL database. I would like to know when ever the data is inserted ,updated in database , is there any possibility to get reflected in Power bi with out manual or schedule refresh ?

Please share the detailed links as I can't find in any power bi sites clearly . As mostly discussing about the schedule refresh .

Can we do it using API's  ???

Regards,

Anil
