I want to know if I already have a PPU licence of powerbi, if my database is on gcp, do i need fabric licence or anything to use lakehouse.
What i am trying to do is auto-refresh reports without gateway or even when the computer is shut down.
So i am creating a dataflow to connect reports with cloud database through lakehouse but i dont want to store data on onelake. How do I do that?
Do I need extra licensing?
Hi. First, having PPU won't allow you to create Fabric items. Only premium per capacity does it. Second, it depends on the source if you need a gateway or not. There are cloud sources that would let you and others that won't. What is the engine you are running at gcp? If you can connect to the server instance with desktop without installing any additional driver, it might work. For example, SQL Server might work, but MySQL or Oracle won't.
If it's big query it should work too.
If you just want a report refreshing from source, then you don't need a lakehouse or dataflow. Getting data to those sources it's the same than getting for the report.
I hope that helps,
Happy to help!
