The error "DMTS_OAuthTokenRefreshFailedError" occurs when Power BI fails to refresh the OAuth token needed for authentication, preventing the connection to the data source. The specific message "An error occurred while sending the request" suggests a network issue, an expired authentication token, or a temporary service disruption. This can happen due to internet connectivity problems, firewall restrictions, or if the data source (such as OneDrive, SharePoint, or Business Central) is temporarily unavailable. Another common cause is an expired or invalid token, often triggered by password changes, multi-factor authentication (MFA) updates, or permission changes in Azure Active Directory. To resolve this, try refreshing the dataset again after some time, as it could be a transient issue. If the error persists, check the Power BI Service status, ensure your internet connection is stable, and re-authenticate the affected data source by updating credentials in Power BI Service → Settings → Manage Connections and Gateways. If the issue continues, refreshing the dataset in Power BI Desktop can help diagnose whether the problem is specific to the cloud service. If none of these steps work, contacting Microsoft Support with the error details may be necessary.
