A dataset has been failing refresh for the past few days, however it refreshes successfully on the desktop. Since the error message on the service for refresh failures is very cryptic ("An unexpected exception occurred."), unable to take any corrective action.
Is there a way to get detailed information for refresh failures on the service?
@sanimesa Typically this is a result of a data value that is breaking refresh. Are you using a gateway, or is this a cloud source and no gateway needed?
@Anonymous I am using a gateway. Backend is SQL server, PBI desktop refreshes without error, normally that also breaks and since it provides a much more meaningful error message, easier to debug.
@sanimesa I would make sure you are on the latest gateway first, then if the issue still persists (or you already are) - see if you can find a more specific error in the log files of the gateway. On the server that the gateway is installed on you can find the gateway files here -> C:\Users\PBIEgwService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\On-premises Data Gateway\Gateway*.log
