1) Publish the report

In Power BI Desktop:

  • Click Publish

  • Choose the target workspace

2) Go to the dataset in Power BI Service

  1. Open https://app.powerbi.com

  2. Go to the workspace

  3. Find your semantic model (dataset)
(same name as the report, unless renamed)

3) Configure data source credentials

  1. Click … (More options) next to the dataset

  2. Select Settings

  3. Under Data source credentials

  4. Click Edit credentials

  5. Sign in using the correct authentication method

4) Set up the refresh schedule

Still in Dataset Settings:

  1. Expand Scheduled refresh

  2. Turn Keep your data up to date → On

  3. Choose:

    • Frequency (Daily / Weekly)

    • Time(s)

    • Time zone

  4. Click Apply

Thankyou very much for the assistance.  Unfortunately "Data source credentials" is greyed out, see photo below.  I am hoping out IT provider can work it out for me.  Have a great day.

Hi,

After you published your report in Power BI Service, look for the Semantic model right next to your report (It should look like the one with icon in this below screenshot.)

Click "..." and go into Settings.

In setting, you should be able to find Scheduled refresh and you can set it up there.

Thankyou for your reply,  This option is grey and I cannot edit it.  See screen shot below.  Can you help me further regarding why?

What is your data source?

There can be multiple reasons. For example a missing gateway. You may refer to below posts to see how they are fixed.

Thankyou again, I have contacted out IT department and they are looking at your helpful information.
