Refresh Failure message does not state table name

Hi team,

Usually i received Refresh Failed Message with Table name stated at the end of it. Since 06 Oct 2025, failure message have not had that anymore. Is there issue from myside or any update from Power Bi Service?

Thanks a lot.

Hi @KOLLER_VN,

the refresh failed before Power BI could even start reading any tables because the connection between SQL Server and Oracle didn’t go through. Since it failed that early, Power BI couldn’t tell which table was involved. You’ll only see a table name when the issue happens after the connection is made, like during data reading or transformations.

Thanks & Regards,

Prasanna Kumar

Hi @KOLLER_VN,

Both errors are basically the same. The refresh failed before Power BI could start reading any tables because the connection between SQL Server and the Oracle database didn’t initialize properly. Since the failure happened at the connection stage, Power BI couldn’t identify or display a specific table name in the error message. In short, it’s a connection issue, not a problem with any particular table.

Thanks & Regards,

Prasanna Kumar

thank you Kumar.

i'm wondering why one shows impact table and another does not. It's easier to troubleshoot when knowing which has impact.

hi @KOLLER_VN

in you rfirst image it shows oledb or initialisation connection failure while reading tables or database and in second image it shows timeout during execution becasue of the slow or non responsive oracle or sql query. it means it hasnt started reading the data tables yet thats why its not showing tablename.
maybe youre quering data through sql server linked to orable databse.
one error appears to be from oracle side and another from sql server end.

thanks for your help.

I got the same failure on the left but no table name is shown. Are they similar?
