Refresh Error - SSAS_ShortMessage_ProcessingError

Hello,

I've tried everything I can to refresh this model in the service but still get the same error:

Data source error: {"error": {"code": "SSAS_ShortMessage_ProcessingError","pbi.error": {"code": "SSAS_ShortMessage_ProcessingError","parameters": {},"details": [],"exceptionCulprit": 1}}} Table: table_name.
Cluster URI: WABI-NORTH-EUROPE-I-PRIMARY-redirect.analysis.windows.net
Activity ID: 2a026955-aea6-4a0c-b9c7-5396e8780635
Request ID: aa432014-e873-1a3f-efcd-e51c47340baf
Time: 2024-03-01 11:35:47Z

I can't find any documentation online for this, I've changed authentication type, clearing all transformation so it's just the base table, checked the VNet gateway is working correctly, published in a different workspace - nothing seems to work!

Thanks in advance.

Hi @James-C

It appears that there is an issue with the connectivity with the connector to Databricks?

Can you see the query getting to your databricks cluster?

Thank you @Anonymous  and @GilbertQ both for your replies - interestingly, I've changed absolutely nothing, given it another refresh in the service, and am now getting this error:

Data source error: {"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","parameters":{},"details":[{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorCode","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"ODBC: ERROR [08000] [Microsoft][Hardy] (35) Error from server: error code: '0' error message: 'org.apache.hive.service.cli.HiveSQLException: Failed to acquire a SAS token for list on /__unitystorage/catalogs/ID/tables/ID/_delta_log due to java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: com.databricks.sql.managedcatalog.acl.UnauthorizedAccessException: PERMISSION_DENIED: User does not have SELECT on Table 'TABLENAME'.\n\tat org.apache.spark.sql.hive.thriftserver.HiveThriftServerErrors$$anonfun$sparkOperationError$1.applyOrElse(HiveThriftServerErrors.scala:83)\n\tat org.apache.spark.sql.hive.thriftserver.HiveThriftServerErrors$$anonfun$sparkOperationError$1.applyOrElse(HiveThriftServerErrors.scala:77)\n\tat scala.runtime.AbstractPartialFunction.apply(AbstractPartialFunction.scala:38)\n\tat org.apache.spark.sql.hive.thriftserver.SparkGetPrimaryKeysOperation.execute(SparkGetPrimaryKeysOperation.scala:36)\n\tat org.apache.spark.sql.hive.thriftserver.Spa"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourceKind","detail":{"type":1,"value":"Databricks"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourcePath","detail":{"type":1,"value":"{\"host\":\"HOSTNAME\",\"httpPath\":\"\\HTTPPATH\"}"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.OdbcErrors","detail":{"type":1,"value":"#table({\"SQLState\", \"NativeError\", \"Message\"}, {})"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason","detail":{"type":1,"value":"DataSource.Error"}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: mql_pbi.

I've 100% got permissions to SELECT the table in Databricks as it works with no issue in SQL Editor.

I've censored some Databricks IDs and SQL Warehouse details in the above.

Thanks

Hi @James-C ,

Please try refreshing the SSAS data source using the standard gateway.Manage SQL Server Analysis Services data sources - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Hope it helps!

Hi @James-C

I will double check that we can successfully connect from the power service via the VNET gateway to your data source.
