Hello all,
I am having issues running python visualisations in PBI Service - everything runs on PBI Desktop but on Service it is giving me a "Script Runtime Error" (please see the screenshot attached). I suspect that it is because PBI Service does not support this python package as it is not included in the list in the documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-python-packages-support. However, I am confused about this statement in the documentation "The Power BI service supports packages published in PyPI", the package "Shap" that I am using for the visuals is published in PyPI so why doesn't it work? I feel that this is conflcicting information: on the one hand there are only 8 packages supported in PBI Service yet it also supports every package in PyPI?
Would really appreciate any clarity on this issue.
Did you get a solution for this? As i am also facing the same problem.
If you have a Pro license you can raise a ticket with Microsoft to inquire about currently supported packages (and their version - very important!). The documentation on that part is rather thin.
Check out the May 2026 Power BI update to learn about new features.
