Published report bug? sorting table and slicer

Hello! I am having a problem after publishing a report to the web.
I have 3 tables and they contain day by day information I am wanting to sort these by the newest dated first (descending)
On my desktop I am able to do this and save, exit, open it up and the table is still sorted the way i want it.
However once I publish the report the sorting reverts back to ascending sort. I have edited the report on the web to change the sort but once the report is opened is changes back.
I am also having this problem with a slicer. I keep putting the settings on single select but once published it reverts back to multi select. I have also tried to edit this in the web but it reverts back to multi select once the report is opened again.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Is there a trick to fixing this?

Attached is how I am changing the sort on the desktop and on the web.

Thank You for all your input!

i figured what was going on, it was the bookmark. When clicking the button that takes me  to that tab, it saved all the filters/slicers when i made the bookmark.

I realized this after i clicked the tab instead of the buttton and it worked.

So i deleted the bookmark and made a new one with my changes and boom. It was correct.

Thanks again.

Hi @Jainaba ,

By my tests with the latest version of power BI Desktop and publishing the report to power bi service, I cannot reproduce your issue.

When I change the slicer from multi select to single select via editing report in power bi service, it can be saved with the change.

Please check if you have installed the latest version of Power BI Desktop (2.70.5494.761) firstly.

If you still have problem, please share a dummy pbix file which can reproduce the scenario, so that we can help further investigate on it? You can upload it to OneDrive and post the link here. Do mask sensitive data before uploading.

Best  Regards,

Cherry

Yes i have the latest version of BI. this seems to keep happening. However when i select reset to defalt then it goes back to how i upladed it. there are tables with filters, the slicer, and the graph. Everytime someone looks at the report the tables, slicer and graph is not how i uploded it. but if you selct revert to default it is fixed. I dont understand this.

Hi @Jainaba

Once the report is uploaded if you could make sure to reset to default on the report.

This Worked!! However every time I bring up the report i must click this button to get back to the orginal. That dosent seem correct. I revert to default go back to my app, click the report and it is all messed up again? not sure why this is. but once i hit the revert to default the report is the way it needs to be (filters in tables, table sorting & one select).

Hi there

This would be because the view that you have is different to the version of the report (with the filters set etc) that gets uploaded.

If you make them the same the button should not be highlighted.

Hi Gilberto, do you mind explaining that?

If i am following you right I belive it is the correct version. here are the steps i took today to see if i could resolve the problem,

1. i deleted the report from the app

2. updated the app without the report

3. deleted the data set from my workspace

4. waited about 5 minutes

5.uploaded the report again

6. updated the app with the new report.

After going to the app with the new report the problem still existed. the page of this report is not the same as the pbix file on my desktop(slicer, tables, filters)

but the reset to default is active and i click it and wala it is how i want everyone to see it when they open this report. i checked  under 2 different people compluters and it does the same for them. And these people were looking at the report for the first time.

Hi there

Are the people accessing the data via the App or directly in the report?

They are acessing through the published app on the web.

I have not seen that before to be honest. And if you have done the steps above, the only thing I could say is potentially disable the persistent filters on the report and see if that resolves the issue?

Dont forget to republish the App for the changes to take effect.
