PowerBI Online Refresh Issue

The report refreshes well in PowerBI Desktop, but it is a problem with refreshing it in PowerBI Online.

Report pulls 1M rows from BigQuery  (not DirectQuery mode)  and builds some measures and visuals.
Working with ODBC it takes about 5 minutes to get data from BigQuery and refresh visuals on PowerBI Desktop.
In PowerBI Online I have installed Gateway On-premise and set credentials and data source path to ODBC DSN, like this tutorial recommends
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Enterprise-Gateway-with-ODBC/td-p/98959

After launch refresh in PowerBI Online manualy, the report can t complete refresh - it connects to BigQuery and make queries to the source table every 4-5 minutes. It worked about an hour, made 10-15 queries, but the process couldn t complete.
To compare, I considered a small report, published it Online and refreshed manualy (100 rows, small BigQuery table) - it had comleted in 15 seconds.

Would be greatful of any advise to define and fix the issue with refresh big report.

hi @Anonymous

For big dataset refresh issue, you could try these way:

1. Filter your dataset and optimize your data model as below:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-reports-performance

2. use directquery instead of import

3. change the Query Timeout in eidt queries, please refer to these post:
