    Hi Anonymous ,

With a few exceptions, Power BI Premium provides a superset of the capabilities available in Azure Analysis Services. In time, these exceptions will be eliminated making Power BI Premium a clearly superior choice when considering capabilities alone.

I would say: it depends.. 🙂

But I do know Anonymous has an excellent post and guide about this:

In March 2019 I published a guide to help you select between Azure Analysis Services and Power BI Premium, and because of  new and improved features, it’s now time for an update to the guide. One of the important decision drivers in this guide have changed…

His whole blog can be found here.

  • Power BI is probably the better option.

    Here's why.

Power BI Premium provides dedicated and enhanced resources to run the Power BI service for your organization. For example:

    • Greater scale and performance
    • Flexibility to license by capacity
    • Unify self-service and enterprise BI
    • Extend on-premises BI with Power BI Report Server
    • Support for data residency by region (Multi-Geo)
    • Share data with anyone without purchasing a per-user license

You should add Tableau to the mix. I'd still prefer Power BI over Tableau though.

      Hi there

It does depend if you are looking at all the Power BI Premium features.

Or if you are looking for a larger dataset size for your model.

If you have the Budget to go for Power BI premium definately go for PBI Premium .  If the sizing of the model and dataset is the on the only issue you are trying to solve than AAS might be a better option  .

    As per microsoft "

Power BI Premium is the focus for enterprise BI and the primary target for future investments. In time, Power BI Premium will provide a superset of the capabilities when compared to Azure Analysis Services.

The clear future direction is Power BI Premium

    "

    This blog should help .
