Power BI

Hello dear experts. I made a Form Microsoft form that employees fill out every day. Then this generates an updated Microsoft Excel file each time the form is submitted. I created a Power BI application connected to the Excel file. The application is deployed and the link is shared with employees. I have tried everything possible to update this application and it does not work. How can we ensure that each time the Excel file is updated, the application can update automatically?

Hi @JeanBaptiste

Maybe you can try the following step:

Save Your Excel File on OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online: To enable automatic updates in Power BI, your Excel file needs to be stored in a cloud service like OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online. This setup allows Power BI to check for updates in the Excel file approximately every hour. If changes are detected, Power BI automatically updates your reports and dashboards. For more details on this process, please refer to the documentation: Refresh a semantic model created from an Excel workbook - cloud - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Microsoft Forms creates a single Excel file that gets updated when responses come in - just want to make sure that's what you're experiencing since it sounds from the description like it's creating a new file each time? You can connect to the Excel file in SharePoint with Power BI and schedule refresh on the semantic model. That will let it update each time the scheduled refresh runs.

I did a tutorial here on exactly this here, if it helps! https://youtu.be/omL20HXxXXc

Hi @JeanBaptiste

How are you trying to update the semantic model? did you schedule a refresh?
