Power BI Service Error Message

Hi,

I re-published my report earlier today and noticed the following error message, does anyone know what it means and what I can do to fix it?

Even though the error appears in Power BI, it's caused by Azure Active Directory Conditional Access policies applied at the organizational level not by Power BI itself

Power BI uses OAuth tokens to access data (like SQL, SharePoint, etc.). If Conditional Access requires a compliant device to issue or refresh that token, and your device isn’t compliant, the token fails leading to this exact error in Power BI.

To resolve it:

  1. Enroll your device with your company’s MDM provider (like Intune).
  2. Then relaunch Power BI Desktop/Service, and republish or refresh the report.

Thanks,
Bhavin

Thanks Bhavin, this is something I will need to speak to my IT department about, this is way over my head!

Everything was working fine yesterday but today I made a few small updates to measures in the pbix desktop file and when I then this error only occured when I published the report.

Does this explanation change anything in your opinion?

Hi @ArchStanton,
Thank you @BhavinVyas3003, for your response regarding the issue.

Thank you  for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

Even though the changes were small, this error is not caused by your edits. It’s likely your company’s security settings changed like device compliance checks.

Your best step now is to contact IT and ask if your device still meets the compliance rules like being enrolled in Intune. Once that’s sorted, publishing should work again.
