Power BI Report with CDS Data Source Deployment

Hello,

I am looking to deploy into production a Power BI report that is connected to CDS (Common Data Service) as a data source. The CDS entities and corresponding solution are currently in a Test Environment.
When the solution will be deployed those CDS entities will be moved to a Production Environment. My question is what steps do I have to take to ensure Power BI grabs those entities from the PROD environment without altering the data manipulation steps I applied in Power BI?

I know the server URL will change which is needed when getting the data in Power BI. This server URL corresponds to the environment the CDS entities are:

Would I have to go in the Power BI Report and import the data again?

Hi @Anonymous ,

You can change your data source here:

Hi @Icey ,

I am also facing the same issue. Can anybody have the solution for this?

@prakash11440278

The solution from @urruegg solved it for me, as described here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/CDS-Data-Source/m-p/871121

The solution is, to use parameters for your data source. Then you can quickly change the environment using a parameter and publish. Works great.

That does not work for Common Data Service:. Power Bi will not let you change the source:

Hello @Icey ,

How would this impact the Power BI Report if the entities get moved to another environment, but the data model is the same?
