I have looked all over Microsoft's website to get answers to my licensing question.
I have a project that leverages Power BI PPU licenses for my team to develop content. I want to grant access to a 3rd party outside of my organization to have read-only access to view and manipulate the results my develop team created (dashboards and reports). I am using a Power BI URL to allow Guest User read-only access. Due to the need the Guest Users have of needing a Power BI PPU license to be able to view and manipulate the content, I have purchased and than granted the Guest User read-only access by giving them a Power BI PPU license to login and view my content (dashboards and reports). The users are outside of my organization, but do not actually control the license, I do / my company does. Note: They are just Guest Users.
The content I have found on Microsoft's website states that I can grant users outside my organization Guest User access to view the content. So, it would appear I am in compliance with the licensing terms. I am trying to find something definitive from Microsoft, that says this is OK to do from a licensing perspective. Thank you!
@QNA I don't know about anything specific from Microsoft but it seems to me that you are in full compliance. If you have purchased the PPU license and assigned it to the Guest user, then that should be fine. I assume it works?
Everything is wroking fine. The Guest Users has no way of moving outside of my organization with the license (cloud based). They can't create their own content. They can't run queries or create reports. They can only have Vierwer (read-only) access within my companies instance of Power BI (Power BI URL) using a license that my company paid for. Note: the Guest Users are not even getting a 1/10th of the benefit a full use of the Power BI PPU license would allow them.
Everything is working fine except for my typing.
