Power BI Gateway Issue

Hi,

Working on Power BI tenant migration, from INFY tenant to TATA tenant.
In INFY, portal.azure tom@INFY.com is Member.
In INFY, portal.azure tom@TATA.com is Guest.

In INFY gateway for a particular gateway SWISS_TEST, client has added both email ids.
But when i check in INFY Power BI service, SWISS_TEST is coming.
But when i check in TATA Power BI service, SWISS_TEST is not coming.

Any suggestion on this, how to resolve this or what could be the reason.
Thanks,

Hello @YashikaAgrawal,
Thanks for followup

cross-tenant gateway usage is not supported in Power BI. Gateways are tightly bound to the tenant where they are installed, and cannot be shared across tenants, even if the user is added as a guest in the other tenant.

So in your case, even though tom@tata.com is added as a user to the gateway in INFY tenant, the gateway will still only work within the INFY tenant Power BI environment. It won’t be accessible from the TATA tenant.

To make it work in the TATA tenant, the gateway will need to be installed and configured under the TATA tenant separately.

Hope this helps if you have any queries we are  happy to assist you further.

Harshitha.

Hello @YashikaAgrawal,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Fabric Community.

I understood you are moving from INFY tenant to TATA tenant, and you are facing an issue where the SWISS_TEST gateway is showing in INFY Power BI but not in TATA Power BI, even though both email IDs are added.

Just to clarify  Power BI gateways are specific to the tenant where they are installed. So, even if tom@tata.com is added to the INFY gateway, it will only show up when you are using the INFY tenant. It won’t be visible when you are logged into TATA tenant Power BI.

If you want to use the same gateway in TATA tenant, you will need to install or register the gateway separately in TATA tenant using a user who is a member of that tenant.

Hope the above provided information help you resolve the issue, if you have any further concerns or queries, please feel free to reach out to us.

Harshitha.

Thank you for the reply.

Cross tenant, will it work here.

Hi @YashikaAgrawal

What happens if you go to your new tenant and invite the Swiss_test account as a guest account from the Azure portal? What happens then?
