Power BI Embedded - How to?

Hi All,

We currently have D365 F&O as ERP and Sana E-Commerce as Sales Portal (Sana = zero-rated ISV for Dynamics)...

What are the type of questions we should ask Sana, in order for them to customize their app in order to support our own Power BI Tenant?  We would like to make our own Power BI Content (Reports) available to our customers, using our own Data-Model.

"Power BI embedded analytics allows you to embed your Power BI items such as reports, dashboards and tiles, in a web application or in a website." - but we do not have control over our website...it's a 3rd-party ISV, i.e. Sana.

1. What does Sana need to supply?  An iframe?  Config-settings to our Power BI Tenant?

2. Auth-layer?  Pass-through auth from Sana to Power BI Tenant - single-sign-on?

3. Concurrent users - what type of SKU on Premium Embedded Capacity?  Any idea about sliding-scale?

Thanks in advance!
Nico

Hi @nicbottie-mon

Embed a report in a secure portal or website provides no-code embedding into any portal that accepts a URL or IFrame.

From the relevant documentation, there are currently no requirements for the portal in which the REPORT is to be embedded . However, there is a license requirement for the user who operates and the user who accesses .

You can refer to the following document for the specific requirements .

You could also consider using a pre-built white label solution like the Reporting Hub:  https://thereportinghub.com.  Deploys in minutes and no code required.   It allows you to take advantage of Power BI Embedded without the complexity.

1. Check with SANA if they can work with Iframe (refer Ailsa-msft's post). If yes, it is straightforward and every user that wants to view the report will need their own Power bi license.

2. If above works, then every user has to get their own power bi pro license or you put the report on a workspace with Premium Capacity ( then users will only need  free license)

If SANA cant work with just the iframe or if you want the authentication to pass through SANA (i.e users dont need a power bi license), you need embed for your customers (also known as an app owns data).
