PostGreSQL schedule refresh error on Power BI service

Hi PowerBI Community,

We are using PostGreSQL database on AWS for our dashboard. The refresh on Power BI Desktop is working absolutely fine but when we are setting up the Schedule Refresh on Power BI Service we are getting the below error :

"Failed to update data source credentials: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions"

Hi @DeepakJha23 ,

Based on your description, I think maybe something wrong in the PostGreSQL, like firewall or TCP/IP.

Here is similar solved case.

I've not used PostGRESQL, so cannot test this, but have you looked at the permissions? This page has more info on how to access. I'm assuming you have the on-prem gateway set up and have established a connection in the online gateway settings?

This is a PostGreSQL database in AWS cloud. We are trying to set up the direct refresh without any gateway.

Thanks,

Deepak

There is an overview here - they are using an ODBC connection vs the native PostGreSQL connector. AWS Platform Tutorials - Power BI to PostgreSQL Connection (wciconsulting.com)
