Publish to Web using Premium capacity

I've seen this question on here before, but I'm getting conflicting answers from different sources. 

If a customer purchases Premium capacity and assigns a workspace to the Premium capacity, can they then still use the Publish to Web feature for that workspace? 

 

For me it's unclear how (and if) this works. Some sources state that Publish to Web uses different capacity resources per default, so that it won't utilize the Premium capacity. But others don't specifically mention that Premium capacity can't use Publish to Web features or even specifically state that it would still keep using the Premium capacity via Publish to Web. So getting conflicting answers here 🙂 

For me it would make sense that the workspace keeps using their assign capacity, in this case Premium capacity. And that it uses that capacity when you use the Publish to Web feature. 

 

Hope someone here has some experience with Premium capacity and Publish to Web features as Microsoft documenation itself is unclear about this.

    Publish to Web feature doesn't have to do with Premium or not. A customer with Premium licenses can add a shared capacity Workspace as well as a Premium one. Publish to Web depends more on roles and permissions granted by the Power Admin Center to allow you to do it.

      In other parts of this community, I've read the following statements: "[...] asked the Power BI Team and Publish to Web Reports are hosted on separate infrastructure that is not consumed as part of your Pro or Premium Subscription" & "Any Publish to Web report, no matter where it comes from, will be hosted in the Publish to Web Capacity". 

       

      Hence my question, as I was receiving conflicting information. On the one hand people say that Publish to Web utilizes their own capacity, seperate from Premium, eventhough the Workspace might be assigned to Premium capacity. On the other hand we state here that Publish to Web is independent of the capacity used. 

       

      So when a customer has Premium capacity, assigns a workspace to this Premium capacity and uses Publish to Web for this, will it then utilize the Premium capacity or not? 

      I expect so, as I that would make the most sense from my pov. Though, others have stated differently.

    Hi MartijnElfers ,

     

    Publish to web is independent of the capacity used. But it has some limitations.

    You should turn on the Publish to Web in the Admin Portal -> tenant settings ->Export and Sharing Settings -> Publish to Web.
