Permissions

Hello,

We have a big report for the general director. We want to have little pieces of this report to show to different departments of the company. Obviously they are not allowed to see the whole report. That's why I want to restrict their permissions.

I allready have some dashboards with tiles they are allowed to see. When I set this to an app the users can still click on their tiles and see the whole report. I don't want that. I know there is a possibility with managing roles in the desktop. But it is a big report and the dax for that, will be very complex I think. Does somebody know how I can do this less complex?

Currently there is no way to limit pages and visuals, RLS can only restrict the visible rows for different users.
It is annoy but you can create different reports for each department for now.

Well, there is no ability to hide pages or visuals based upon logon. You would have to use RLS.

There are other options, none of them are good ones. You could create multiple versions of the report. Or publish it twice to two different workspaces/apps. In one App you only include the Dashboard and not the report?

Hmm, what if you gave them App permissions and then went to the Report permissions and took away their Read access?

If I only include the dashboard, they can't see the tiles. The tiles are part of the report and so if I don't include the report, they can not see anything. I can't find the middleway.

The person which I'm testing it on only has these permissions on the report: app, reshare. Not even read, but when I make the app for her she can read everything.
