Permissions

1) I have an App Workspace where I want 3 or 4 people to come in and Share information and content. When I publish that App, I want many people to be able to see it. I do not want people coming to the App workspace, just the app.

 2) Do I have to assign read permissions to all the objects (reports, Datasets etc) in my app?

I appreciate the help the documnentation is unclear on this.

Thanks

Paul

Sounds like you have the right idea.  Set the permissions of the App Workspace to be the people that you want to be contributors.

When you publish the App, there is a different Access area where you can set up the People or Distribution groups that you want to give access too.  Those people will only be able to see a Read-Only version of the data from inside the "App" section of Power BI.

You also have the ability to toggle which reports and dashboards appear in an App from that workspace.  Each workspace can only have a single App, so if you need to split the userbase, you will need to split the workspace.

Ross has covered it very well and I agree with everything that he has said.
