Overwriting Excel PowerPivot Model (Dataset) does not update structure in PowerBI

I have an excel powerpivot model. I make structural changes, IE add a column or a measure to the model. I upload the file and overwrite on PowerBI, however the changes do not show up. I need to delete the model (and all the reports and dashboards associated with it) and start from scratch every time. There has to be a better way.
