Option to export data to Excel when using embed code

Hello community,

When using the generated embed link ("Securely embed this report in a website or portal") option to embed a report (Picture 1), the user is not presented with the dialogue to choose wether to Export their data as Excel or CSV (Picture 2) when clicking on the three dots next to a visualization (Picture 4).

Instead, after a few seconds the user is immediately prompted to download the data as .CSV (Picture 3) - no possibility to choose between Excel or CSV or any other options.

Any way to have that option Excel-File or CSV when using the embed-link generated by Power BI?

In another forum post there was a similar problem reported, but there they were using a publish to web link, I think just embedding a report inside the company's tenant should not have the same limitations (?)

Thank you!

Hi @ferzfeld

As tested, it is no possibility to choose between Excel or CSV or any other options on my side as you meet.

I would comfirm with the team whether this feature supports or not.

If it doesn't support currently, you could submit an idea here so this feature may be coming further.

I will update as soon as i get information.

Best Regards

Maggie

Thank you Maggie for looking into it and confirming with the product team if this "works as designed" or not.

From my point of view since all we are doing is using the embedded view instead of the "regular" view of the report functionality should be the same either way.

Kind Regards

Frank
