We are using an .xls workbook in sharepoint to feed into a Power BI service report.
In order to get this to work in Power BI Desktop, I had to install 64-bit version of Access on my pc, following the guidelines here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-access-database-errors .
This worked, but now that it is published to the Power BI Service, I am getting the same Access version error when the data set attempts its scheduled refresh:
Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987
I can update on desktop and republish, but that makes the whole thing kind of pointless.
How would I be able to update the Version of Access on Power BI Service?
Hi @Anonymous ,
Could you please check the bit version again? If the installed Access Database Engine bit version is different from your Microsoft Office installation's bit version, Office applications will not be able to use the Access Database Engine.
Regards,
Frank
Thank you. I had that problem initially.
The only versions of Access I have installed are the Office 365 version and the 64-bit version that I installed to deal with the same error message on desktop, following the instructions for Situation 3 here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-access-database-errors
