Old reports reappearing via pipeline

We publish the reports via the pipeline from the repository. Now we see that reports with an old name (which are no longer in the repos) are also being placed again and again. No idea where these suddenly come from. Is there something that remains in the Power BI cache? How can we get rid of them?

Hi @Soundwave

To fix the issue of old reports reappearing:

  1. Check Workspace: Manually delete old reports from the Power BI workspace.
  2. Clean Pipeline: Remove old reports from all stages in the deployment pipeline.
  3. Verify Repository: Ensure your pipeline points to the correct branch/folder in the repository.
  4. Reset Pipeline: Unassign and reassign the pipeline, then redeploy.
  5. Check Automations: Ensure no Power Automate flows or linked content are re-uploading old reports.
  6. Contact Support: If the issue persists, share details with Microsoft Support.

Finally, re-run the deployment to confirm the issue is resolved.

Hi @Soundwave,

Thanks for actively participating in MS fabric community support.

Can you please refer to below troubleshooting steps:

  • Power BI does not cache reports in the same way a browser might, but it can retain references to older versions of reports if they still exist in the workspace.
  • If the deployment pipeline is not configured to "overwrite existing" with proper validation, it may inadvertently republish older reports with outdated names if those artifacts were not fully removed from the workspace
  • In Power BI deployment pipelines, ensure that only the current and active reports from the repository are linked to the pipeline.
