On June 1, it appears that Microsoft removed support for Python and R visuals without notice or explanation—no notes in the documents, no messages in M365 message center, no blog post.
We opened a ticket with Microsoft and were informed that it is not supported, with no explanation.
It was working last month, and documentation indicated it was supported as shown in this old version of the page.
As of this week the error looks like this, slightly different from last week
The application owner can supply support for this python visual error.
The solution is to move to fabric, but we cannot move to fabric because we are in the government cloud.
Just a friendly PSA in case you are in the same situation and now need to rebuild advanced Python visualizations on another platform.
Hello @samgreene1,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community.
Also, thank you @svredevoogd for your clarification and for confirming that a Message Center post was sent in February 2025 to impact customers with 3 months' notice regarding the end of support for R and Python visuals in the Power BI Service for non-Fabric and sovereign cloud environments.
If your organization did not receive this communication, We recommend raising a Microsoft Support ticket to investigate why the Message Center notification might not have reached your tenant. This can help ensure future communications are properly received.

Hello @samgreene1,
We are following up once again regarding your query. Could you please confirm if the issue has been resolved through the support ticket with Microsoft?
If the issue has been resolved, we kindly request you to share the resolution or key insights here to help others in the community. If we don’t hear back, we’ll go ahead and close this thread.
Should you need further assistance in the future, we encourage you to reach out via the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum and create a new thread. We’ll be happy to help.
Thank you for your understanding.
Personally, I don't think that is sufficient. Deprecated or removed or altered features should be announced in the monthly updates and should be noted in the microsoft learn documentation.
I wonder whether this is affecting us too. The web page said it's supported for "Premium" capacity... we have PPU licensing so I assumed we'd be covered, but we just can't get the personal gateway to work any longer.
Hi @samgreene1 ,
First, I am sorry that the end of support for R & Python visuals in the PBI service caught your team unaware.
That was not the intention. There was a post in M365 message center to impacted customers in February giving 3 months of advance notice. If that message did not reach your team, I'd like to work with you to understand why.
I know it is not helpful to your team today, but as Fabric becomes available in Sov Cloud, this functionality will return to the service.
We also have the same problem, the report can be used at the monment! 😥 Is there any other solution about this? We have used Python to customized a report control. Now it is not working
Hi @samgreene1
