I have a dataset which leverages RLS that is feeding several reports in the same workspace. I frequently use the "Test as Role" security feature to impersonate a user or group and see how the RLS is impacting their view of the data. Prior to the recent updates to navigation in the PBI service, when using this feature I could click the workspace name from the bottom of the navigation menu on the left, and it would display the reports in the workspace for me to choose and switch context, all while preserving the impersonation. Now, I am unable to view the list there, so I seem to be stuck on whichever report is arbitrarily selected by the service when I am impersonating. Is there another method for switching report context while using impersonation?
Unfortunately that is no longer possible.
What I say is as long as you can test the RLS works for the users in a single report it will then work the same in all the reports.
@GilbertQ I agree it will have the same effect on the data across all of the reports hitting the dataset. But the data being referenced does not completely overlap across all of my reports (hence why they are separate reports!), so the one pulled up by the service may not expose the data against which I want to validate for a certain scenario. I have a hard time believing that developers aren't expected to have separate testing/validation scenarios for different reports fed from the same source.
