How to set up schedule refresh for Odata datasource?

Hello Team,

We're currently working on generating reports using the OData source from Jira and publishing them in our services. To streamline this process, we considered setting up a gateway. However, we encountered an issue during the installation, specifically when attempting to schedule refreshes.

The message indicates that a gateway might not be necessary for this semantic model since all its data sources are in the cloud. Still, it suggests using a gateway for enhanced control over the connection.

Our concern is, without installing the gateway, how can we ensure that the dataset gets refreshed?

Thank you in advance.

We figured out the solution to this problem after trying many different combinations of usernames and passwords.

We were trying to connect the Jira cloud to the Power BI service. Normally, you don't need gateways for a refresh since both are in the cloud. However, even after trying various combinations of login credentials, we kept getting an error saying the credentials were invalid.

We tried using our organizational username, email, and password. We even tried using the username and password of the Jira tool, but nothing worked.

Then, one of my colleagues tried an unexpected combination of credentials – using the Jira username and an Access token as the password. Surprisingly, this didn't give us an error, but the data still wasn't refreshing.

Finally, we scheduled a refresh, and everything got sorted out. Thanks to everyone who helped us, knowingly or unknowingly.

Hello @Anonymous ,

Thank you for your assistance. We attempted to use all possible login credentials as per your suggestion, but we are still encountering the same errors. Could someone please help me understand which specific credentials I should enter?Screenshot (234).png

Hi @RupeshRahate ,

Odata data sources generally have the following authentication methods: Anonymous , basic , key, OAuth2.

I used anonymous authentication and it can be configured successfully

Hi @RupeshRahate ,

The main problem of your refresh failure is that your Odata data source credentials are invalid, just try to update the credentials.

For cloud sources, it can generally be refreshed directly without a gateway. If you want to see whether refresh history , you can check the refresh history.
