I have published a dashboard file (pbix) to the Power BI service. The pbix file points to Excel and CSV data files stored on Teams.
When I am in Power BI desktop, I can click refresh and it will suucessfully reach those files.
I would like to set up a scheduled auto-refresh in the Power BI service so I don't have to keep republishing the pbix file. The scheduled refresh fails on file credentials. I added credentials and each files shows a status of "online." I entered credentials in the Power BI service as OAUTH and privacy = ORGANIZATIONAL.
I do not have a gateway set up. I thought the files could be reached since they were on Teams. Do I need a gateway to make refreshing data from Excel files on Teams? Is it better if I store them on One Drive for Business?
Thank you for any assistance.

Behind the scenes Teams channels store files in SharePoint Online. There's no need for the data gateway nor to copy the files to OneDrive.

How did you ingest the files into Power BI?
If you open your Teams site in SharePoint, you can follow the instructions below for loading files from OneDrive, then once you publish to the service, you should be able to schedule your refresh (all without a gateway)
