I created my data model based on local CSV files with PBI desktop now i want to move the files to onedrive and keep the connection after I am publishing to power bi service , how to change the power bi service or desktop to recognize the files on onedrive ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
In this scenario, since you move the file source from local to cloud, Power BI will verify your account to connect one drive and access the file on cloud instead of using Personal Gateway to access the file locally. You have to re-import the data on Power BI Service. See: Refresh a dataset created from a comma separated value (.csv) file on OneDrive or SharePoint Online
In Power BI Desktop, you just need to connect the file on onedrive. Then go the Advanced Editor in "Edit Query", copy the "Source" part, and replace the Source part in your original dataset.
