How can I edit the .pbix file for a semantic model that has been configured for incremental refresh?

Hello.

I'm trying to document a Power BI report and its accompanying semantic model that has been configured for incremental refresh. I'll eventually need to add features to both model and report. I'm not able to download the report or its model to my PC; the message I get is -

"You can't download this file because the dataset was altered through incremental refresh."

How do I open/edit these PBIX files (for the report and the underlying model) in Desktop?

Hi @credit_check ,

It's a known limitations.Once a dataset has been altered through incremental refresh and published to the Power BI service, you can’t download the PBIX file directly.

Download a report from the Power BI service to Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

As a workaround you can open the report in Power BI Desktop and turn off the Incremental Refresh option.
Republish the report to the Power BI Service, replacing the earlier report.After this, you should be able to download the PBIX file.
But please note that turning off the Incremental Refresh will mean that the entire dataset will need to be refreshed, which could take some time if it’s a large dataset.
