Gateways issue with SQL server data source

I have created a dektop report and published it to its own app. I have set up the gateway server for the on prem refresh of the SQL server the report pulls data from.

However we have run into an error when we try to set up the data sources on the gateway.

I have set up the SQL server and the gateways server can connect to it fine, however why i try and enable gateways for the dataset i get the below error:

gateways.png

This is telling me that i haven't added the SQL server, but i have, it is a data source and the gateway is already connected to it.

Any ideas what im doing wrong?

So i fixed it!

In my desktop report the data source name had an additional '\' on the end of the server name. I removed this to match the server name i used in the gateway and it worked.

Ensure the datasource you use in the report and the Gateway match exactly.

The data source setup in the service for the gateway must be setup exactly as you refer to it in your pbix file, including the username
