Hi @sailorman ,
Update:
The issue is already fixed in all regions and clusters in Service. A fix on this issue will be available around the mid-September PBI Desktop release.
As a workaround for Power BI Desktop for now, Customers can add the ID column back to the select statement within the M Query if customers are using ID column in "Table.SelectColumns" - Customers can remove the ID column within the M Query if customers are using ID column in "Table.RemoveColumns"

I have had exactly the same issue since Saturday but with a new SharePoint list! we are not using SharePoint Classic. The fix seems to be as someone above also suggested:
Hope this helps, although very annoying that MS has obviously made a change that has a significant impact without understanding the implication of the change made before implementation.
Confirming making the ID columns visible works here also as workaround.
I've had to update both SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2010 on prem queries.
This might be related to this issue reported a couple of days ago if it used to refresh and has now stopped with no changes.
I am not using a gateway. I am using the current version of Power BI desktop. And the refresh is normal while on desktop. I have made sure my connections are good in service. However the refresh fails.
Hi @sailorman
Can you make sure you have got the latest version of the Power BI gateway installed (if you are using it)?
I'm encountering the exact same issue. Also since yesterday. Using a SharePoint on-prem (2010) list as datasource.
Have upgraded the gateway (which was indeed outdated) but this has not resolved the issue. The same error persists.
